N,N-dimethylethanolamine (DMEA) is a multifunctional organic compound with a wide range of uses:

As a pharmaceutical raw material: It is used as an intermediate for the manufacture of dyes, fiber treatment agents, anti-corrosion additives, etc. It can be used as a water-soluble coating base, synthetic resin solvent, etc.3.

As a catalyst: DMEA can be used as a catalyst for the reaction of water-based epoxy resin groups and a curing catalyst for single-component moisture-curing polyurethane hot melt adhesives8.

Application in polyurethane foam: DMEA is used as an auxiliary catalyst in polyurethane foam plastics and is also a reactive catalyst. It can be used in polyurethane soft foam and polyurethane rigid foam formulations.
