Description
Dimethylisopropylamine (DMIPA) is an acyclic tertiary amine primarily used as a catalyst in the cold box process for producing sand cores in the foundry industry. Its protonation enables the efficient transfer of the methyl group to nitrogen-containing compounds in the gas phase, enhancing its functionality in industrial processes. In addition to its role as a catalyst, DMIPA can act as an alkylating agent, facilitating the transfer of alkyl groups to other molecules. This property makes it valuable in the synthesis of various chemical intermediates and specialty products across multiple industries, including pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and advanced materials.
