Mechanism of Action: Isothiazolinones are high-performance water treatment agents with good miscibility. They are miscible with various corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors, dispersants, and most anionic, cationic, and nonionic surfactants, including chlorine. Commercially available products are typically mixtures of 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (CMI) and 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (MI), often with the addition of metal nitrites or nitrates to enhance stability and prevent decomposition. The mechanism of action of isothiazolinones is to break the bonds between bacterial and algal proteins, thus exerting a biocidal effect. Upon contact with microorganisms, they rapidly and irreversibly inhibit their growth, leading to cell death. They exhibit strong inhibitory and bactericidal effects against common bacteria (sulfate-reducing bacteria, sludge-forming bacteria), fungi (iron-oxidizing bacteria, molds, yeasts), and algae. They are characterized by high biocidal efficiency, good degradation, no residue, safe operation, good compatibility, strong stability, and low operating costs. At high doses, it has a significant effect on the removal of biological slime and is currently widely used in steel smelting, oilfield water injection, thermal power generation, papermaking, oil refining, chemical industry, light textile industry, industrial cleaning, pesticides, water-based cutting oil coatings, daily chemicals, inks, dyes, leather making and other fields.
This product is a broad-spectrum bactericide and preservative, effectively killing algae, bacteria, and fungi. This active single agent can be widely used in industrial cooling water, oilfield return tank water, papermaking, pipelines, coatings, paints, rubber, cosmetics, photographic film, and detergents. It requires a small effective dosage, is non-toxic and non-polluting, mixes easily in various formulations, has a wide pH range, and after dilution, is easily biodegradable into non-toxic and non-polluting substances. It has low toxicity, leaves no residue in emissions, and is compatible with various emulsifiers, surfactants, and protein components. MIT effectively kills various bacteria at low concentrations, making it particularly suitable for the preservation of cosmetics and personal care formulations. It has a suitable pH range of 2.0-12.0, is miscible with water, can be added at any stage, and is easy to handle.
