Benzalkonium bromide, also known as chlorhexidine and benzyl bromide, is a quaternary ammonium cationic surfactant broad-spectrum fungicide with strong and rapid bactericidal effect, low toxicity, no irritation to skin and tissue, strong penetration, and no
corrosion to metals and rubber products. Benzalkonium bromide can effectively kill a variety of non-spore-forming pathogenic Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria and certain fungi. It has strong infiltration and permeability, which helps to eliminate bacteria that have just entered the tissue; it is non-corrosive and irritating, has no damage to tissues, does not affect tissue healing, does not increase scar formation, and has no systemic toxic side effects.
Chemical properties This product is a colorless or light yellow solid or colloid. Melting point 46 ~ 48 ℃, flash point (Fp) greater than 110 ℃. Easily soluble in water or ethanol, with an aromatic and extremely bitter taste. A large amount of foam is produced when it is shaken vigorously. Uses This product has excellent bactericidal and detergency. It has no corrosive effect on metals and does not stain clothes. It is used as a disinfectant in medicine. It is used as a water injection bactericide in oil fields.
