Uses
Cetylpyridinium chloride monohydrate is a nitrogen-containing cationic surfactant and an antimicrobial agent capable of killing bacteria and other microorganisms. It has proven effective in preventing dental plaque and reducing gingivitis, and is also used in certain insecticides.

Regarding its chemical properties, cetylpyridinium chloride monohydrate is highly soluble in water and ethanol, soluble in chloroform, and practically insoluble in benzene and diethyl ether. The pH of a 1% aqueous solution ranges from 6.0 to 7.0.
