Diethanolamine   111-42-2   puriy : ≥99%

Background:

Ethanolamine (EA) is the most important amino alcohol, including monoethanolamine (MEA), diethanolamine (DEA), and triethanolamine (TEA). Ethanolamine is a key organic intermediate widely used in surfactants, synthetic detergents, petroleum additives, synthetic resin and rubber plasticizers, accelerators, vulcanizers, and foaming agents, as well as in gas purification, liquid antifreeze, printing and dyeing, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, construction, and military applications. Many of ethanolamine’s downstream products are important fine chemical intermediates and are also in short supply in China. Therefore, increasing efforts in the development and application of ethanolamine is crucial to both meet domestic fine chemical demand and promote the rapid development of the ethanolamine industry.

Diethanolamine, also known as bishydroxyethylamine and 2,2′-iminobisethanol, is a white crystalline or colorless liquid with strong hygroscopicity. It is readily soluble in water, methanol, ethanol, acetone, and benzene. Its solubility in benzene (g/100g) at 25°C is 4.2, and in ether it is 0.8. Its uses include: a gas purifier, absorbing chemically charged acidic gases such as carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, and sulfur dioxide. “Benfil” solution, used in the ammonia synthesis industry, is primarily composed of this product. It is also used as an emulsifier, lubricant, shampoo, thickener, and other additives. It is an organic synthesis intermediate used in the production of detergent raw materials, preservatives, and daily chemical products (such as surfactants). It is also used in the synthesis of morpholine.

Uses: Diethanolamine is used as a raw material for buffers in the pharmaceutical industry, as a cross-linking agent in the production of high-resilience polyurethane foam, and as a detergent for aircraft engine pistons when mixed with triethanolamine. It reacts with fatty acids to form alkyl alcohol acyl. It is also used as a raw material for organic synthesis, a chemical book raw material for surfactants, and an acid gas absorbent. It is used as a thickener and foam modifier in shampoos and light detergents, as an intermediate in the organic synthesis industry, and as a solvent in the pharmaceutical industry. It has a wide range of uses in the washing industry, cosmetics industry, agriculture, construction industry, and metal industry.
