The production method is obtained by reacting methyl chloroformate and methanol. The raw material methyl chloroformate used in the reaction is obtained by the reaction of methanol and phosgene. During preparation, this phosgenation product can also be synthesized by adding excess methanol and refluxing the reaction without separation to synthesize dimethyl carbonate. The transesterification method involves the transesterification reaction between ethylene carbonate or propylene carbonate and methanol to produce dimethyl carbonate.
