Dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid is a pale yellow to brown viscous, hygroscopic liquid. It is currently the primary raw material for household detergent products in China. Household detergents produced using industrial linear alkylbenzene are characterized by strong detergency, effective bactericidal properties, and the absence of residue or pollution. Chemically, it is a weak organic acid (pKa ≈ 0.7) that remains stable in acidic environments; it is highly corrosive and irritating to the skin and eyes (Hazard Category R34), and it undergoes neutralization reactions to form salts (such as sodium, ammonium, and triethanolamine salts).

Applications
Dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid possesses strong detergency, emulsifying, dispersing, and foaming properties, making it a key raw material for synthetic detergents, personal care products, and industrial auxiliaries.
