Properties: N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP for short) is a nitrogen heterocyclic compound with a molecular formula of C5H9NO and a boiling point of 204°C. It is a liquid with a slight ammonia smell. It is miscible with water in any proportion and is compatible with almost all solvents (ethanol, ethanol, Acetaldehyde, ketones, aromatic hydrocarbons, etc.) are completely mixed.

NMP is a polar aprotic solvent with high boiling point, strong polarity, low viscosity, strong solubility, non-corrosion, low toxicity, strong biodegradability, low volatility, excellent chemical stability and thermal stability.

Production process: NMP has been industrialized for a long time and the technology is mature. Its production process consists of dehydrogenating 1,4-butanediol (BDO) to produce γ-butyrolactone (GBL), and then amination of γ-butyrolactone and monomethylamine. The reaction generates products, which are then distilled and purified into the finished product NMP.

N-Methylpyrrolidone is an excellent high-grade solvent used in petrochemicals, pesticides, medicines, electronic materials and other fields. It can be used as acetylene concentration, syngas desulfurization, lubricating oil refining, lubricating oil antifreeze, olefin extraction agent, solvent in the polymerization of insoluble engineering plastics, agricultural herbicides, insulation materials, integrated circuit production, PVC exhaust gas recovery, cleaning agents, dye auxiliaries, dispersants, etc.
