Uses of 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether
‌1,4-Butanediol diglycidyl ether (BDDGE) is a bifunctional epoxy resin reactive diluent, widely used in the coating industry and synthetic chemical industry. ‌ It has the characteristics of good flexibility, low viscosity, low volatility, low odor, and low toxicity. It is mainly used as a diluent for epoxy resin to reduce the viscosity of the epoxy system and improve the mechanical properties of the epoxy cured product‌1.

Specifically, BDDGE is widely used in the following fields:

‌Coating Industry‌: As an epoxy reactive diluent, BDDGE can significantly reduce the viscosity of the epoxy system, improve the penetration of the epoxy resin system during casting, and obtain good wetting ability during lamination and bonding‌.

‌Synthetic chemical industry‌: BDDGE can be used with bisphenol A-type epoxy resin to prepare adhesives, cast plastics, impregnation liquids, etc.‌2.
‌Medicine and daily chemicals‌: BDDGE can form ether bonds with hyaluronic acid and can be used as a cross-linking agent in the fields of medical beauty, daily chemicals, medicine and other fields to meet anti-aging needs‌2.
In addition, there are various preparation methods for BDDGE, including one-step method, two-step method, phase transfer catalysis method, olefin oxidation method, etc.‌
