tert-Butyl peroxybenzoate

Chemical properties:

Colorless liquid. Freezing point 8.5℃, boiling point 112℃ (decomposition), 75-76℃ (2.67kPa), relative density 1.02Chemicalbook1 (20/4℃), refractive index 1.4490. Flash point 93℃. Soluble in alcohol, ether, ester and ketone, insoluble in water. Slightly aromatic, stable at room temperature.

Uses:

Used as an initiator for high-pressure polyethylene, a vulcanizing agent for silicone rubber, and a curing agent for unsaturated polyester.

Production method:

tert-butyl alcohol is reacted with tert-butyl sulfate and hydrogen peroxide to obtain tert-butyl peroxide, which is then reacted with benzoyl chloride to obtain
