Application
Light brown viscous liquid, light straw yellow soft solid at 20℃. Soluble in alcohol solvents, insoluble in water.
This product is an important organic synthesis intermediate of quaternary ammonium salt type cationic surfactant. It can react with ethylene oxide, dimethyl sulfate, diethyl sulfate, methyl chloride, benzyl chloride, etc. to generate different quaternary ammonium salt cations, which can be used in fabric softening chemicalbook, antistatic agent, improving hair combing properties and other products. It can also be used to produce insect repellents. N,N-dimethyloctadecylamine reacts with ethylene oxide and nitric acid to produce octadecyl dimethyl hydroxyethyl quaternary ammonium nitrate, i.e. antistatic agent SN.
