1. Application of Butyl methacrylate CAS 97-88-1:
Butyl methacrylate (BMA) is a colorless, transparent liquid with a pungent aromatic odor. It is soluble in various organic solvents such as ethanol, acetone, and diethyl ether, but insoluble in water. Due to its reactive ester group attached to a conjugated double bond, it undergoes multiple addition reactions and readily participates in homopolymerization and copolymerization reactions. It is used in the synthesis of plastics and organic compounds. It is used in the production of modified acrylic glass, light-emitting optical fibers, high-performance foam plastics, transparent films, resins, and other materials. Additionally, its hydroxyl-activated carbon-carbon double bond provides an acrylic monomer structure, enabling diverse addition reactions to form various acrylic ester derivatives. These are used in manufacturing acrylic ester polymers and copolymers, petroleum additives, and low-viscosity polymers for specialty coatings, paper and leather processing aids, fiber treatment agents, and metal surface treatments. They find extensive applications in plastic optical fibers, coatings, adhesives, textiles, and the medical industry.
