Introduction: July has come to an end, and domestic sulfur production data have increased as expected. According to the sample data of Longzhong Information, China’s sulfur production data in July 2023 was about 893,800 tons, with a month-on-month increase of 2.22%. Although there are individual unit maintenance or load reduction, production increases as the repaired unit is restored or increased, and the number of natural days increases. The production data from January to July 2023 was 6.1685 million tons, an increase of 16.46% over the same period last year.

Comparison of monthly sulfur production of major domestic refineries in 2022-2023

In the figure above, the output of sulfur samples in the state of the country in July 2023 was about 89.38 million tons, a month-on-month increase of 2.22%, with a year-on-year increase of 16.46percent. The increase of the month-on-month increase: the increase of natural days in July, and the increase of individual refinery devices; The reason for the year-on-year increase: the release of new devices.

From the perspective of regional division, the top sulfur production in July 2023 is always in southwest China, whose output data is around 270,000 tons, accounting for 30.0% of the total output in China, with a month-on-month decrease of 1.6%. Although there is an increase in Tiexian Mountain project in the region, there is a significant reduction in production due to the installation inspection of Chuanbei gas field in the region. The second is East China, whose output data is around 200,000 tons, accounting for 22.3% of the total national output, with a quarter-on-quarter increase of 2.80%. Although Zhenhai refinery has a low output in the region, Jinling Petrochemical and Yangzi Petrochemical have increased compared with the previous period. The third is South China, whose production data is near 160,000 tons, accounting for 17.9% of the total national output, an increase of 5.6%. The fourth is the northeast region, its output data accounted for 8.4% of the total national output, a decrease of 5.3%, the region has Hengli, Dalian West too, Harbin chain to bring production reduction. The rest are Shandong, North China, Northwest and central China, the output data accounted for 7.7% of the total national output, 6.8%, 4.3%, 2.6%, the sequential range is an increase, of which the Shandong region increased the most obvious, in 14.7%, the main region has the increment brought by the overhaul and restoration of Qingdao refining and chemical equipment.

To sum up, the overall increase in production in July 2023 is mainly due to the increase in the number of natural days in July and the recovery of the output of individual devices. Although there is a reduction brought about by the maintenance of devices, the overall increase is greater than the reduction value. At present, the number of planned maintenance enterprises in August is reduced and most of them are restored before the middle and early ten days, although there is the impact of the reduction of natural days next month, but with the recovery of equipment of maintenance enterprises and the possible release of new production, domestic sulfur production in August is still expected to grow, but the range is limited.
